David P. Vicknair
David practices in the areas of personal injury litigation, construction law and litigation, business and commercial litigation, represents individuals and small businesses in class action litigation, handles successions, estate planning, asset protection, and business succession planning, and is involved in various types of general litigation matters on behalf of both individuals and small businesses. David is general counsel to many small to medium sized corporations and small businesses.
David’s general counsel practice is focused on advising business owners, developers, and individuals on contract drafting and negotiation, governmental regulatory compliance at the state and federal level, labor related issues, and legal issues encountered throughout the course of business.
David’s litigation practice has a primary focus on personal injury litigation, construction litigation, and business and real estate litigation, but also involves property and casualty loss litigation and various types of general litigation and commercial litigation matters.
David has been involved in litigating and arguing appeals at various Louisiana Courts of Appeal and the Louisiana Supreme Court, as well as the Federal United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal in various business litigation, personal injury, multi district litigation, and property casualty claims.
David has been named as class counsel in his class action practice in multiple consumer based class actions, and has also been involved in multiple multi-district litigation class actions in Louisiana, including the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, In re: Xarelto, In re: Taxotere, and Chinese Drywall.
David sits on the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Professionalism Committee. David regularly gives seminars and continuing education presentations to attorneys and real estate professionals. David is also actively involved and a supporter of Volunteers of America and sits on the Greater New Orleans Volunteers of America’s Reach for the Stars Breakfast committee, which he currently co-chairs. David is also an advisory board member of the Colonel Athletic Association, the chief fundraising arm for Nicholls State University Athletics. David is a proud donor and supporter of Nicholls State University. David is also an active alumni volunteer with his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
David earned his B.A. in Business Administration, cum laude, from Nicholls State University in 2007; and his Juris Doctor in May 2011 from Loyola University New Orleans School of Law. At Loyola, David was a member of the Loyola Moot Court, where he was selected as an oralist on the Cultural Heritage Moot Court team which placed 1st at DePaul University’s National Cultural Heritage Moot Court competition. David was also selected as an oralist on Loyola’s National Moot Court team. David received several honors and awards at Loyola, including induction into the Order of the Barristers and the Law Excellence Award for the highest grade in Constitutional Law, Advanced Constitutional Law, and Products Liability.
